Alice Millar Chapel Wedding, Evanston

It’s hard for me to decide where I should start when writing about this day and more specifically, this couple.

From the moment I met these two it was obvious that there was something special about them. The story of how they came to be a couple is one of that touches the heart’s of everyone they meet, but beyond that these two have a certain characteristic about them that I couldn’t quite put my finger on. During their ceremony I was able to figure it out; their selflessness is unlike anything I have ever encountered.

The day was a celebration of their love, their becoming a new family, and their faith, but they also used it as a way to serve others. Something that you don’t often see at weddings.

I don’t usually cry during the ceremony. Most of the time I am focusing on making sure I am where I need to be at the right time, and this doesn’t allow for too much emotion to sneak in (though catch me during a first look or a father/daughter dance and I’m probably in tears). This ceremony was different. Christen and Joe’s focus of their wedding day was truly on the marriage itself, and thanking God for the way he has worked in their lives to get them to this point. The whole chapel was filled with love and every single person who was there was supporting these two was doing so in prayer, song, and joyful applause. As the first song of worship began and the voices of all in attendance filled the chapel I felt tears come to my eyes.

The rest of the story I will leave to the photos – the face of little Audrey as she looks up at her beautiful new Mom, the look in Joe’s eyes as he sees is daughter walk down the aisle in her beautiful dress followed by his Bride, the bridal party, the parents, the guests – their faces all tell the story of the joy and love that fully surrounded this couple on that day.
