Yesterday, after a long few days of being away, I felt the need to have a “self and home improvement day”. Which basically means that I ignored my computer and focused all of my energy on cleaning the house, working out, and painting my nails.
Here are a few things I learned …
1. I still suck at running – as much as I want to believe that one day I will magically be able to run three miles at a non-embarrassing pace, after not working out for a few days (err.. weeks?) I can’t – actually I can hardly run .5 mile without talking a walk break, which is just awesome, NOT. So I am going to make an effort to at least TRY to change this during the off season – the least it will do will help me heal my wounded pride.
2. Refrigerators should be cleaned more than once a year, or we need to stop being so sloppy with how we package our leftovers. I don’t mean that food should be thrown out more than once a year – obviously I already know that, but shelves – walls – the inside of the fridge needs to be DEEP cleaned more than once a year, because if you wait a year you might end up wanting to stab yourself in the eye with a fork while trying to scrape sticky stuff off of your fridge shelves. Vom.
3. Don’t paint your nails before deep cleaning the kitchen. Scrubbing disgusting burned-on food off of your stove WILL chip your manicure and WILL make you curse silently (or out loud) to yourself.
But now that I am back to my normal life of mornings at my desk with a warm cup of coffee (so needed on this 30 degree morning), I am excited to share Ashley + Jason’s engagement session from last week.
I have known Ashley since my very first day and class at the University of Iowa. Throughout the entire sessions I couldn’t help but smile and feel so much joy that such an amazing woman had found an equally amazing man, who makes her laugh and smile uncontrollably. These two are so wonderful together, and I think Ashley’s dog (goofy) has found a new best friend in Jason :)
It was a bit chilly out, but these two were troopers as we sipped our baileys and coffee out of our mugs and braved the wind, to shoot at the park behind Ashley’s parent’s house where Jason proposed (the park is a hidden GEM by the way – you would never know such an amazing place would be located within their Lindenhurst neighborhood!)
I love reading your comments and so do my fabulous couples! Leave these two some love with a message below!
